“the bible is just a book”
“You’re a fool for putting all your faith in what a book tells you.”
Christians hear that and we start to say
that nature is the primary evidence for the existence of God
or that it’s all about how you feel and the primary evidences for a God are the joy, peace, and hope that Christians get
or that being able to believe in something despite having no evidence for it is in itself evidence for that something
or that true knowledge of God needs to be provided by some special revelation of the Holy Spirit (not just regeneration)
or that it really is a fantastic book! …but sometimes it can be a little bit wrong about some of the details
or that it was relevant back then but needs to be adjusted for the new culture
etc.
If the Bible is not the inspired, inerrant, sufficient Word of God and standard of absolute truth (1 Thessalonians 2:13), then what is the basis for any knowledge of God? what is the basis for any Christianity? what is the basis for any gospel?
Don’t back down. Don’t stop fighting to read, understand, believe, cherish, teach, and obey it.
