UNTIL HE BRINGS ME HOME

You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:24-26

it’s easy to be a tumblr Christian

It’s easy to reblog videos, verses, and graphics with quick little good-sounding Christian quotes

it’s easy to make resolutions and fight sin in the form of online posts

it’s easy to type “I love Jesus!” and write about his excellencies.

It’s much, much, much harder to worship him as Romans 12:1-2 dictates

to have a high view of God and his holiness

to, in light of the cross, see Christ as all-sufficient in every way and to count all other things as surpassing loss

to not desire the things of this world, but to desire a greater knowledge of Christ and more faithful service to him

to build our words, conduct, thoughts—everything—on the Word

to have a childlike faith

to recognize, and repent daily of, our deep sinfulness

to understand the gospel and joyously, humbly accept free grace

to, with the ultimate aim being the glory of God, think hard about his character and want a correct, biblical understanding of who he is

to, motivated by grace, die to self and obey his commands

to resist the flesh, flee temptation, and pursue personal holiness

to hunger and thirst for righteousness

to dedicate to serving the local church

to selflessly and sacrificially love other members of the body of Christ.

I desperately hope that you are not deceived

that you are not falsely assured of your salvation (Matthew 7:21-23)

that for us, Christ is truly Lord and Savior.
