UNTIL HE BRINGS ME HOME

You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:24-26

not on my watch

We went shopping at an outlet today, and my little sister (Raychel [not a typo], age 7) needed a new swimsuit. Or is it a bathing suit for girls?

The first stop was Quiksilver, but they had nothing but two-pieces. So I refused to let my mom buy anything.

The second stop was Carter’s, but apparently they provide clothing for kids 6 and under. They found the biggest swimbathingsuit they could find, and it was a one-piece. Plus, it had pink—which was a criterion, apparently. It could’ve been bright orange with neon green spots, for all I cared.

Later, I found out that my mom had decided that Raychel would be outgrowing the new purchase within a few months (since it barely fit, as it was) and had taken her somewhere else… where they got a two-piece.

Dude!

In the car, I told Raychel she’d be buying one-piece swimbathingsuits for the rest of her life. Call me too black-and-white and legalistic however much you want. I’d still put her in a snow jacket if it were up to me.

(I may have to get a head-start on parenting sermons, soon).
